Living by Faith: A Practical Guide to The Faith Process

Living by Faith: A Practical Guide to The Faith Process

In our journey through life, we often encounter moments that challenge our beliefs and push us to question our faith. However, living by faith is not a passive experience but a deliberate, life-changing process. Let's explore how Faith can transform our daily lives.

Understanding Faith

At its core, faith is more than just believing.

It's a choice to live as though the Bible is true, regardless of our circumstances, emotions, or cultural trends. This definition challenges us to move beyond mere intellectual agreement and into active trust in God's Word.

The Three-Step Faith Process

1. Review the Definition of Faith

“Faith is living as thought the Bible is true regardless of your circumstances, emotions of cultural trends. “

  • It isn't about feeling; it's about choosing. When we define faith as living as though the Bible is true, we shift our focus from our emotions to God's promises.

  • For instance, look up Philippians 4:19 and read it. This passage assures us that God will supply all our needs. Living by faith means trusting this promise, even when our bank account says otherwise.

2. Ask the Faith Question

  • In every situation, we should ask ourselves: "If I were living as though the Bible were true, how would I be living?" This question serves as a compass, aligning our actions with God's Word.

  • For example, when faced with fear, we might reflect on 2 Timothy 1:7:

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."

  • Living by faith in this context means choosing courage, powered by God's love, even when fear feels overwhelming.

3. Pray for God's Help

  • Faith is not a solo endeavor. Look up Ephesians 2:8. It reminds us that faith is a gift from God. We should actively seek God's help in living out our faith. A simple prayer might look like this:

"Father, help me trust Your promise in 1 John 5:11-13 that I have eternal life in You. Remind me of this truth throughout my day and help me live in light of it."

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” (New International Version)

Faith: A Lifelong Journey

It's crucial to remember that faith isn't a one-time event but a continuous journey. As Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 5:7, "We live by faith, not by sight." This means consistently trusting God's promises and acting on them, even when they seem impossible or when our emotions and circumstances try to pull us in another direction.

Conclusion

Living by faith is a transformative process that touches every aspect of our lives. By understanding what faith truly means, aligning our actions with God's Word, and seeking His help, we can navigate life's challenges with confidence and trust in God's promises.

As you embark on or continue your faith journey, remember: faith is a choice, a daily decision to trust God's Word above all else. How will you choose to live by faith today?
